Happy second Saturday of 2011. Woke up with a dusting of snow on the ground. Luckily, not enough to prevent me from getting to my favorite quilt store. Quilter's Attic in Goodletsville, TN is starting their BOM for 2011. This was the first day to get it. I went there thinking I was going to choose the Black and White with Bright colorway. But, the Civil War block fabrics were prettier. It is done in brown, tan, and a deep blue. This is a combination I've wanted to try for a long time. I had thought it would be great colors for a Tennessee Waltz quilt. But, they had a bed sized TN Waltz in blue and white on display that was very dramatic. I have a lot of black and white prints that I have collected over to years. I want to make a Bow Tie quilt with it. I'm thinking a narrow red inner border and a black toile print wide outer border. I will call it "A Black Tie Affair"....someday!
Another major reason (do I need a reason?) for going to the quilt shop was to buy a bunch of 1/2 yard cuts of neutrals. You can just never have too much of those. I bought 11 different pieces. A couple days ago I began to cut the pieces for a Sister's Choice scrap quilt by Bonnie Hunter over at http://www.quiltville.com/. I wanted to use off-whites, tans, beiges, and slightly gold neutrals for this quilt's background pieces. But, I didn't have enough neutral fabrics. One of the neutrals I bought today had a slighty greenish tint to it, but will work fine. One just never has enough neutrals.
