My 13 year old granddaughter, Sierra expressed an interest in learning to sew. When we went fabric shopping I could tell she loved petting the fabrics almost as much as I. It was fun to teach her about picking coordinating fabrics. I showed her how she could tell a lot about cotton fabrics by the feel. She chose some nice fabrics for a pillowcase. I thought that was a great beginner project. We used the "hotdog" method to make her pillowcase.
I have done various types of needle crafts and sewing most of my life. Quilting has become a passion since my retirement 5 years ago. I belong to a large quilt guild of fabulous and talented women. They have taught me so much.
