My 13 year old granddaughter, Sierra expressed an interest in learning to sew. When we went fabric shopping I could tell she loved petting the fabrics almost as much as I. It was fun to teach her about picking coordinating fabrics. I showed her how she could tell a lot about cotton fabrics by the feel. She chose some nice fabrics for a pillowcase. I thought that was a great beginner project. We used the "hotdog" method to make her pillowcase.
First of all, my name really is Prima Donna, but my friends and family just call me Donna. I love all types of creative activities. My mother was an excellent needle worker. She had 4 daughters so, she taught us how to sew, crochet, and embroidery. She started quilting after I left home so, I have pretty much learned to quilt by reading, especially quilting blogs. Since retiring as a registered nurse 4 years ago, quilting has become a passion. I still enjoy crafting and embroidery, too. Come along on this journey and share your thoughts and expertise.
