Star Quilts

Ever see a quilt that you just have to make, RIGHT NOW? I feel that way a lot of the time when I watch a Jenny Doan video. I saw Jenny last year when she spoke at the Tennessee Valley Quilter's Assoc. Assembly Day. She is so impressive in person! She came out with a new video recently called Four-patch Star. It is actually a sixteen-patch star made with her unique way of making 4-patches. You can see the video here. I find sewing 4 patches and 9 patches so very relaxing. I just love doing them!

I usually don't actually get around to making her quilts...until now. She uses 10" squares to make this quilt. But, since she cuts 20 of them into 5" squares to make the four patches, I decided to use fabrics from a couple charm packs I had on hand. When it comes to pre-cut fabrics, have you noticed that all pre-cuts are not created equal? Well, I did not let that deter me. Here are my 20 16-patch star centers.
I will cut my own 10" squares of prints and Kona white to make the HST star points. I will also need 80- 4 1/2 " white squares. Luckily, I have the 4 1/2" die cutter for my Accuquilt go. I will have this together in no time...the Jenny Doan way.

So, I will have made 2 star quilts this summer. One can never have too many star quilts. Right?

Looks like you are finding some fun to get into this summer! And you're right, you can never have too many star quilts. Looking forward to seeing this one come together :)

I must have missed that tutorial but I love the finished quilt ... and with Jenny's easy peasy construction methods, it should be fairly easy to make, right? Because as you say, you can never have too many star quilts ... and I have too few, for sure! I can't wait to see yours finished up.

Another quilt has been added to my list! I love stars quilts. I watched Jenny's video, it looks so easy and what a time saver the way she sewed the 10" squares together. I am on the look out for just the right layer cake now!
